For many years, Ingham ISD has been focused on improving student literacy outcomes with our local districts through professional development, tools, resources and a Family Learning Connection website. In October 2016, House Bill 4822 was passed requiring grade three students be at a proficient reading level to advance to grade four. This legislation further pulled together our instructional teams, and we developed parent and educator guides, reading improvement plans for students, an Early Learning Calendar for families and young children, and the Literacy Calendar for K-1 students and families. In the future, there is a plan to develop another calendar for students in grades 2-3. Literacy is a fundamental necessity of learning and we will continue to work with our districts, students and families to support student success. #inghamimpact
