School Psychologists apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.  They partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community.

School Psychologists work with educators and assist schools in prevention activities such as:

  • Participate in MTSS planning and implement instructional support interventions to develop academic skills
  • Encourage and motivate students to actively engage in school-wide practices that promote learning
  • Evaluate students for special education eligibility and utilize a variety of assessment tools
  • Facilitation and attendance at Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings
  • Guidance for crisis intervention guidance
  • Design solutions to barriers to learning and behavior
  • Support specially designed instruction for students with IEPs
  • Collaborate with community agencies to strengthen connections between home, school and the community
