Two Ingham ISD Employees Win Honors from the Michigan Association of Career and Technical Education

On Monday, January 30, Scott Westenberg, Automotive Technology Instructor, and Lindy Daman, College and Career Preparation and Assessment Coordinator, were recognized at the Michigan Career Education Conference by the Michigan Association for Career and Technical Education (MI ACTE). Westenberg received the 2023 MI ACTE Lifetime Achievement Award and Daman received the 2023 MI ACTE Counseling and Career Preparation Professional of the Year Award. Both Westenberg and Daman are on staff at the Wilson Talent Center.

Westenberg is in his thirty-first year as an instructor of the Automotive Technology program. Throughout his career he continues to remain up to date on instructional strategies, making sure his students have the best Career Technical Education (CTE) experience possible. In addition, Westenberg has created a Motorsports Team for his students, providing leadership and scholarship opportunities, and is chairing a fiftieth anniversary car show scheduled for June 10, 2023.

Daman has been with Ingham ISD since March 2000 serving in a variety of roles. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). Daman currently works with local districts in our service area supporting career exploration activities. In addition, she works with the Capital Area College Access Network creating college and career preparation events, hosting FAFSA workshops and makes students aware of scholarship and apprenticeship opportunities.

“We are incredibly proud of the work Scott and Lindy do each day to ensure our students are prepared for their next steps in life,” notes Joe Wenzel, principal at the Wilson Talent Center. “They are both very deserving of these honors and we thank the Michigan Association of Career and Technical Education for recognizing their efforts,” Wenzel also noted.
