Ingham ISD Updated COVID-19 Protocols

On Friday, March 11, the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) announced COVID-19 protocol changes for schools. This is in response to current conditions and low numbers of new COVID-19 cases as our state enters a post-surge, recovery phase of the pandemic.

Because of this new guidance from the state, the Ingham County Health Department (ICHD) has elected to remove the ICHD School Handouts from their website and instead use the MDHHS Guidance for K-12 school settings. MDHHS also updated their Isolation and Quarantine Guidance for school settings. The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has updated their guidance for Early Care and Child Care settings as well.

It is important that families and staff continue to report positive cases of any communicable disease, including COVID-19, to their program administrator or principal. Ingham ISD will communicate with the local health department about any outbreak of a communicable disease within our school buildings/programs as required by this guidance and follow their directives.

For the time being, Ingham ISD will offer Rapid Testing to any Ingham ISD student or staff member who would like to be tested. Each weekday morning from 7:15-8:15 we will offer testing on our Mason campus located at 2630 West Howell Road. Please note that students will have to provide the parent approval form when testing. Families and staff who have questions can email our Health Resource Advocate Chelsea Lawson or call 517.244.1307.

In addition, MDHHS has rescinded the October 6, 2020 Emergency Order regarding Reporting of Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 at Schools. The order was effective immediately. This means that Ingham ISD will cease sending notifications about positive COVID-19 cases in our school buildings and will remove the COVID-19 Positive/Probable Case Dashboard from our website.

We want to thank our families and staff for their continued efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our programs and buildings. It is because of this effort our state has entered the recovery phase of the pandemic. As always, we will continue to update you as we receive additional guidance from either MDHHS or the ICHD. If you have questions, please email Ingham ISD Communications.
