Michael Lilly Named Executive Director of Information Technology Services at Ingham ISD

Michael Lilly has been selected as Executive Director of Information Technology Services (ITS) at Ingham Intermediate School District. In this role, he will oversee all information technology components not only for Ingham ISD, but the local districts the ITS department serves as well. Lilly will replace Daryl Tilley, who will be retiring at the end of February after 14 years of service.

Lilly has been with Ingham ISD for over 20 years, most recently serving as Director of Information Technology Services. He started his career at Ingham ISD serving as a student intern after completing coursework at the then, Capital Area Career Center, implementing, diagnosing and repairing student and staff technology. From there, Lilly was promoted to Technical Support Specialist and then Desktop Engineer before assuming his most recent role as Director. During his tenure, Lilly has collaborated with technical and educational leaders across the county, served as Technical Director for several local districts and led technical initiatives serving the Ingham County StarNet consortium of districts in the Ingham ISD service area. Lilly has also supervised, coached or mentored twelve technology staff members making up three support teams.

“Mike has served as an invaluable member of our Information Technology Services leadership team for many years,” notes Daryl Tilley, outgoing Executive Director. “His vast knowledge and ability to form relationships and trust with a variety of stakeholders will serve him well in his new role,” Tilley also noted.

Lilly, along with his cybersecurity team, has also represented Ingham ISD and local districts with the Michigan Educational Technology Leaders (METL), a group advocating during build up for the MI Connect Project during the COVID-19 pandemic, funding $7.45 million for devices, $17.45 million for connectivity, and $100,000 for cybersecurity efforts. He has also presented several times to the Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) recapping cybersecurity incidents, responses and lessons learned.

“As a process-oriented systems thinker and relationship builder, Mike will seamlessly move into his new role,” says Jason Mellema, Superintendent. “We are thrilled to have someone of his caliber joining our cabinet and look forward to his ability to lead our information systems team for many years,” Mellema also noted.

A 2006 graduate of Northwood University with a degree in Computer Information Management, Lilly also graduated from the Capital Quality Initiative (CQI) in 2014, a process training, studying the work of Dr. Edwards Deming. Lilly resides with his family in Dansville.
