Nominations Now Open for the 2024-25 Michigan Teacher of the Year
Michigan Department of Education Press Release LANSING – The nomination window for the 2024-25 Michigan Teacher of the Year, an annual program that recognizes outstanding teachers in our state, is now open, the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) announced today.
“Michigan schools are fortunate to have so many outstanding teachers,” said State Superintendent Dr. Michael Rice. “It’s been our long-standing practice to recognize their efforts, encourage their collaboration, and honor their commitment to the children of our great state.”
Each year, ten Regional Teachers of the Year (RTOYs) are selected through a competitive application process, with one of the RTOYs being named Michigan Teacher of the Year. People wishing to nominate a quality teacher for this recognition are asked to make nominations using the online form, which is available until Monday, October 16, 2023, at 11:59 p.m.
The purpose of the MTOY program is to recognize outstanding teachers from across Michigan. Those teachers will have an opportunity to learn more about educational initiatives and policies at the state level and provide input on how to better serve Michigan’s teachers and students.
All eligible nominees are invited to apply. To be eligible, a nominee must have a valid Michigan teaching certificate and at least five years of teaching experience in Michigan and be in good standing with their school or district.
