Our Board of Education

The Ingham Intermediate Board of Education is comprised of five members who serve overlapping terms of six years each. Board members are chosen by the twelve local school districts within Ingham County. Regular Board of Education meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month except as indicated. Special meetings are scheduled as needed. Regular meetings begin at 6:00 pm at the Thorburn Education Center. Notices of special meetings are posted in accordance with applicable state statute.

Board Meetings

Attend a Board Meeting

Regular Board of Education meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise noted. Special meetings are scheduled as needed. Meetings begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Thorburn Education Center conference room, with special meeting notices posted in accordance with state law.

Board meetings are open to the public except when closed sessions are permitted by law. Closed sessions may be held for matters such as personnel, student discipline, contract negotiations and consultation with legal counsel. No official action is taken during closed session.

A quorum of three board members is required to conduct business. Meeting minutes are public records and are available for review.

Public Comments

Board of Education meetings include time for public comment. The Board welcomes input from students, families, staff and community members, particularly on agenda items. To allow the meeting to move through its agenda, Board members do not engage in dialogue or respond to questions during public comment. Speakers are limited to three minutes and are encouraged to prepare their remarks in advance.
