Ingham Play & Learn Groups

Fall 1 Session: August 24 to October 16, 2026

Registration opens Monday, August 10, 2026, at 12 noon

All playgroup families must register again for each new session. This includes Fall 1, Fall 2, Winter, and Spring. Please register for one group only and plan to attend that same group each week.

Families who stop attending and do not notify the facilitator may be removed from the group. This allows families on the waitlist to participate. Please review the details below before registering.

Our Summer Session will continue through August 13, 2026, with no registration required.

Who Can Join

Play and Learn Groups are for children from birth through age 5. Enrollment is first come, first served for families living in one of the 12 Ingham ISD school districts: Dansville, East Lansing, Haslett, Holt, Lansing, Leslie, Mason, Okemos, Stockbridge, Waverly, Webberville, and Williamston.

Groups may be canceled due to weather or staff illness.

About Ingham Play and Learn Groups

Families can join free, hands-on sessions led by trained parent educators. We follow the Parents as Teachers model and offer activities that support early learning and development. Sessions may include:

  • Story time
  • Music and singing
  • Movement
  • Play dough
  • Creative art activities
  • Sensory table exploration
  • Peer interaction and social play

Sick Children

Please stay home if you or your child have tested positive for COVID-19, have been exposed to an illness, or show any symptoms within 24 hours before group. Symptoms include:

  • Fever above 100°F
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • An unidentified rash
  • Eye or nose discharge that is not clear

This helps keep all children, families, and staff safe.

Siblings Over Age 5

Space is limited. Please check with your group facilitator before bringing siblings who are older than 5.

Inclement Weather and Air Quality

If the school district where your group meets closes because of bad weather, all groups—indoor and outdoor—are canceled for that day.

Outdoor groups are also canceled if the temperature, including wind chill, drops below 15°F. If you are unsure, please contact your group facilitator.

Groups will meet if the air quality rating is 100 or below. If the rating is above 100, groups may be moved indoors, shortened, offered at a lower activity level or canceled. Your facilitator will communicate any changes directly with families.

Register for one group per family.

Registration for Fall 1 Session will open Monday, August 10, 2026, at 12:00 noon.
