Special Education Parent Advisory Committee

Mission Statement

The mission of the Ingham Intermediate School District (ISD) Special Education Parent Advisory Committee is to promote partnerships among parents and educators that benefit students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

We believe:

• A student with an IEP should be an active participant in the community.
• The student comes first, not the disability.
• Students with an IEP should be supported by parents, students and the community.
• Parents, schools and community partnerships should provide opportunities that promote independence for students with IEPs.

Membership

The Parent Advisory Committee representatives are appointed by local school districts.  We are continually looking for new members.  If you would like to become a part of the committee, contact your local Special Education Director to express your interest.  We are always looking for parents, caregivers and volunteers to support Parent Advisory Committee activities.

Membership Responsibilities

Parent Advisory Committee members are accessible to local parents for support and information.  Some of the duties of the Parent Advisory Committee members include:

• Act as liaisons between parents, local school districts, and Ingham ISD
• Provide support and information to parents who have a student with an active IEP or 504 Plan
• Attend Parent Advisory Committee activities to support awareness of students with an active IEP or 504 Plan
• Provide input and feedback on the ingham ISD Plan for the Delivery of Special Education Programs and Services

• Least Restrictive Environment
• Transition Services
• College and Career Readiness
