Literacy Instructional Support
Improving student achievement, teacher competencies and the implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) are the goals of Ingham Intermediate School District. We will assist local districts and teachers in achieving these goals with professional development in developing Literacy Leadership focused on the 3 Tiers of Intervention, literacy instruction, data analysis, core program implementation, intervention selection and implementation.
Michigan's literacy laws are designed to help schools identify reading challenges early, provide timely intervention and ensure every student has the opportunity to develop strong literacy skills. The resources below support educators in implementing state literacy requirements and delivering evidence-based reading instruction to improve student outcomes.

Literacy Calendars for Families
The Early Learning and K-1 Family Literacy Calendars are designed to help families support children's learning at home and are most effective when introduced through conversation rather than simply sent home with the child. Consider sharing the calendars during Fall or Spring parent-teacher conferences, literacy events or family meetings, taking time to explain how families can incorporate the activities into everyday routines.
For students with an Individual Reading Improvement Plan (IRIP), this is a wonderful opportunity to recommend specific activities that reinforce the child's literacy goals and support continued learning at home.
