Culinary Arts Instructor Wins Applebee’s Teacher of the Year Award

On Tuesday, May 21, Wilson Talent Center Culinary Arts Instructor, Chef Corbett Day, was honored with Applebee’s Teacher of the Year award. Representatives from Applebee’s and TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants were on hand to surprise Chef Day with the award.

Wilson Talent Center Students Advance to Business Professionals of America National Competition

Nine students from the Wilson Talent Center will be traveling to Anaheim, California May 1-5, 2019 to participate in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) national competition. These students either placed first in their respective category at the state competition or received a Torch Award allowing them to participate because of service points earned.

WTC Construction Technology Student Places at SkillsUSA National Competition

The SkillsUSA 55th Annual National Leadership and Skills Conference was held June 24-28, 2018 in Louisville, Kentucky. Jacob Mohr, a senior from the Wilson Talent Center’s Construction Technology program and Leslie High School, represented the state of Michigan in the plumbing category and earned a fourth place finish in the nation, competing against 35 other students.

Wildlife Habitat Coming to Ingham ISD

A partnership between Ingham ISD, Michigan DNR, Ingham County Pheasants Forever and Michigan United Conservation Clubs will bring a Wildlife Habitat to the grounds of the Ingham ISD campus in stages between 2017-2019. The property on the corner of Howell Road and Hagadorn Road will eventually become a protected pollinator habitat with native wild flowers and grasses.
