Physical Therapy

Ingham Intermediate School District Physical Therapists are licensed health care professionals who work to make a positive difference in the quality of a student's educational experience.The school-based physical therapist supports the education of students who are suspected of and/or diagnosed with disabilities that adversely impact their ability to participate in their educational program.





Working with students with disabilities and serious health impairments, the school-based physical therapist is expected to analyze risk, problem solve effectively and demonstrate a high level of professional judgement when recommending and providing services.

The school-based physical therapist

  • Provides screening, evaluation and intervention services
  • Develops, implements and coordinates physical therapy program services within the local district
  • Participates with the school team to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and 504 Plans
  • Consults with families, educational, medical and community personnel is also an essential component of the physical therapist's roles/responsibilities.
  • Recommends environmental modifications and provides training to staff
