Grades 9 - 12 Reading

It is important to have open and honest conversations with your child's teacher. Try to work in a conversation format in which you ask a few questions to get the conversation started and build on what the teacher asks you. Below are basic questions you could ask regardless of your child's age.

• What would you expect my child to have learned by this point in the school year, and has he learned it?
• What are my child's skills in comparison to other children in the class?
• How can you tell if my child is making enough progress to reach the next set of skills?
• What test results and work samples can you share with me that show my child's learning needs?
• What do these results tell us about what we can do to help my child improve?
• What things does my child do well? What is my child struggling with?
• What can I do at home to help teach and reinforce the learning at school?
• How do you want me to communicate with you?
