How to Make a Referral

One in twelve children have some type of physical or medical condition or delay in development that can make learning difficult and prevent them from keeping up with their peers. Are you wondering about a child's growth and development? If so, don't worry about it, do something about it.

Child referral for Early On or special education is a service provided locally through Ingham ISD and is intended to identify infant, toddler, preschool and school-age children with special learning needs.

By contacting the Ingham ISD at (517) 244-4514 or using our on-line child referral form, you can request free evaluation services for a child to determine whether they may be eligible for programs and services like, Special Education or Early On.

It's never too early to start working with a child who has a disability, developmental delay or special needs. If you would like to make a child referral, click the Referral Form link below.

Referral Steps
  • Contact with a child occurs and a concern is identified
  • A referral is made
  • An evaluation of the child's development occurs
  • A meeting is held to consider the child's eligibility for special education or Early On
