Services
Diagnostic Services
Families are provided with free evaluations of their child's development in the areas of physical, cognitive, and communication development as well as social/emotional and self help skill development. Evaluations are done within the most natural surrounding for the child, including the home setting or at the center to meet the families' and child's needs. It is a multi-disciplinary evaluation with parent evaluation as part of the process. Evaluations are scheduled so as to provide the most typical and natural observation of the child's development.
Family Services
- Individual Family Service Plan. The family, the Ingham EARLY ON Team members, and other service agencies work together to develop an Individualized Family Service Plan or IFSP. The purpose of the IFSP is to determine eligibility and services to meet the needs of the child and family. These individualized plans draw a road map that will assist a family to help their child with special needs. Services are provided in the natural environments the child is familiar with. As part of the Early On guidelines, Individual Family Service Plans are reviewed every six months to determine what changes have occurred that affect the current needs of the child and the family.
- Parent Group Program. Parents are provided the time and opportunity to learn about child development and priorities for children with special needs. They receive emotional support from other families whose children have similar conditions.
- Parent Resource Library. Parents may check out educational materials, books and videotapes on a variety of topics important to parents of infants and toddlers from the Ingham Intermediate School District.
- Service Coordination The family designates a team member to assist them in coordinating services with other agencies in the community.
- Siblings Brothers and sisters are welcome members at play groups and participants at home visits.
- The Preprimary Newsletter. The newsletter, Preprimary News, is published monthly and sent to all Ingham Intermediate School District participating families. It is a useful source of information about early childhood development and includes specific topics of interest, along with local program news and events.
- Transitions Team members provide support as children move into other placements at age three. This support consists of planning visitations, coordinating with other agencies, and talking with parents and staff about what would be in the child's best interest.
Child Services
- Home based services Home visits are made with immediate family, daycare providers, and grandparents or extended family members. Schedules are coordinated with the family's needs to lessen the disruption to the home environment.
- Group services Children can receive services in a variety of play groups at the centers and at a number of sites throughout the County. They usually are held weekly and provide children with important experiences in socialization, communication and motor development.
