Attend a Board Meeting

Regular Board of Education meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month except as indicated. Special meetings are scheduled as needed. Regular meetings begin at 6:00 pm in Thorburn Education Center's conference room. Notices of special meetings are advertised in accordance with applicable state statute.

All meetings of the Board are open to the public except those specifically exempted by law. Closed sessions may be called to discuss certain personnel matters, student discipline, contract negotiations and for consultation with attorneys on pending litigation. No vote on any item may be taken in closed session.

A quorum of three board members is needed to conduct business. The superintendent and administrative staff are available at board meetings to provide reports and background information.

Minutes are recorded at each board meeting. These minutes are public record and, as such, are available to interested individuals.

Public Comments

All meetings of the Board of Education include time for public comment. The Board values public comment and input from the community, especially regarding agenda items; however, the board meeting format is designed to facilitate the evenings agenda and, therefore, restricts board members from engaging in conversation with speakers or immediately responding to questions. As public comment is limited to three minutes per person, participants are encouraged to prepare their remarks in advance to make the most of their allotted time.
