"The partnership Ingham Intermediate School District has developed with UAW/GM enables students to learn first hand about the dynamic field of manufacturing. The nationally recognized LAMP program has become one of the premier career education and technology programs in the country. It is one of our best examples of the importance of the melding of education and work place learning. The support, assistance and hands-on training our students receive from their UAW/GM mentors makes this program work. This program is a beacon of hope for all of us who truly understand the importance of school-to-work for our future workers."

Richard Shoemaker
Vice President & Director, UAW General Motors Department

"Manufacturing jobs, particularly manufacturing jobs at General Motors, are increasingly more complex and require a greater range of skills and abilities. We are very proud to be working with the Ingham Intermediate School District to provide opportunities for students in the Lansing area to gain greater knowledge and skills that will be valuable in the workplace."

John R. Buttermore
