Overview
The LAMP program provides students approximately five hundred hours of instruction within a problem-based integrated curriculum. Six units of instruction are thematically spiraled to help students understand the interdependent nature of a manufacturing system.
Academic content and manufacturing concepts are delivered within a workplace environment. Students spend half of their school day in the LAMP classroom on site at the UAW/GM training facility. Employability skills, teamwork skills, and career development opportunities further prepare students to become effective workers in the manufacturing world of the future.
The LAMP program provides explorations for students in the areas of self-awareness, career awareness, career decision making, and job placement. Mentoring and job shadowing opportunities further enrich the students' experiences by providing them with adult guides to the world of manufacturing.
