 What do you do in Cosmetology?

Students are exposed to all areas of Cosmetology which includes shampooing, manicuring hairstyling, hair coloring, perm waving chemical relaxing and all theory related subjects. A main focus of the Cosmetology program is to develop professional attitude, employability skills, communication skills and technical skills needed to obtain a Cosmetology License in the state of Michigan.

What kind of jobs can I pursue?

Cosmetology is designed to prepare students for employment in various related positions such as: stylist, instructor, sales representative, manicurist, esthetician, color specialist or salon owner.

What does it take to become state certified?

Upon completion of 1500 hours and passing a Pre-State exam , the student will be given a certification for Cosmetology and be recommended to take the State of Michigan exam. When they pass the State exam both written and practical with a 75% or higher, they will receive a license to practice Cosmetology in the State of Michigan. Licenses are transferable from state to state as long as they meet each state's requirements.

Is this a one or two year program?

Two years

Am I required to have my own transportation?

Yes, because Cosmetology meets for a longer period of time than the normal CACC programs, plus some Saturdays.
