Health Foundations

Interested in Healthcare, but not sure about the variety of career options? In this one-year core program, students learn the basics of healthcare such as medical terminology, vital signs and CPR just to name a few.

In this program students acquire a core of healthcare knowledge including medical ethics, bloodborne pathogens and introduction to the body systems. Students will learn the technical skills needed to succeed in the healthcare industry such as patient communication, assessing vital signs, Healthcare level CPR & AED certification and first aid.

Students will have the option to earn an additional Pharmacy Technician certification if they choose. Students who qualify will also have the opportunity to participate in limited work-based learning experiences which could include job shadows, guest speakers or facility tours.

During the second half of the year, students will be presented with a variety of options for continuing their healthcare education with expanded hands-on experiences. Choices will include the areas of Certified Nursing Assistant (CAN)/Acute Care Assistant, Medical Assistant (MA) or a hospital experience through CAHEP.
