Curriculum - Social Studies


Carmela D'Alessandro supports the field of social studies in Ingham County through facilitation of Ingham ISD's Social Studies Network, (ISSNET), various professional development offerings and by staying current in the field through membership on the Michigan Supervisors of Social Studies Association and as a board member for the Michigan History Education Council.

The Michigan State Board of Edcation approved social studies content expectations at a special meeting held on October 1, 2007. Content expectations can be downloaded from the Michigan Department of Edcation website at , or through Michigan State University at and click on the link for k-12 social studies content expectations.

On December 11, 2007, the State Board of Education approved the addition of nine content expectations for fourth grade. As a result, fourth grade curriculum now includes Michigan History from statehood to present. No expectations were removed from fourth grade.
